High School Musical: The Musical: The Series the Disney+ Original based on High School Musical that follows a fictional group of students at East High the school where the movies were filmed putting on a production of HSM. Lastly, before I get to specific categories, the cast has super chemistry. It has great writing and is just great in general. It’s now one of my favourite shows.

Story and Writing

Tim Federle did a great job incorporating the High School Musical style into the show. It really feels like HSM and also references it a lot. It uses the tools of foreshadowing and self-referential to its advantage. But above all the writing is super accurate and the dynamics feel real.

Music

The show has a combination of covers of songs from the original movie and now original songs. The covers are great and give the songs new dimensions, some of them are even a little different they updated them and now they are better. The original songs are really good they show where the cast can really shine. But the most impressive parts are that a couple of songs are written by the cast and that the audio tracks for some of the musical numbers were recorded live.

Technical

This show has great production value, especially for a streaming show. It feels like they want it to feel like a long (almost 10-hour movie). The camera work is great it adds to the show’s emotion when needed.

In summary High School Musical The Musical The Series is a great show. It has a great storyline which feels realistic.
